Band Director (High School)

Andrew Winter

Andrew Winter is in his 21st year of teaching. He directs the High School Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band and Jazz Band, as well as teaching Guitar and Music Theory/Digital Music Production. A native of the Cleveland area, Winter received his Masters of Music Education degree from Vandercook College in Chicago and his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ohio Northern University. During his time at Cloverleaf, Mr. Winter was honored to receive the 2008 Emerald Key “Teacher of the Year” award and was nominated for the 2010 and 2011 Medina County “Teacher of Excellence” award. He was also selected for the 2019 “Inspiration Award” from the Medina County ESC. Mr. Winter is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, the Ohio Music Education Association and Kappa Kappa Psi (band honorary). He lives on the west side of Cleveland with his wife Emily and children Adalyn and Ethan.

Band Director (Middle School & HS Marching Band)

Chase Favalon

Chase Favalon is a 2021 graduate of the University of Akron, with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education. Favalon grew up in Barberton, Ohio where he attended Barberton High School and was awarded the John Phillips Sousa Award, and the Directors Award in his senior year. After graduation from Barberton High School, Favalon moved to Akron to pursue a degree in music education. In his time at the University of Akron he served as treasurer of the Akron chapter of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association for two years, was treasurer and president of the Akron Saxophone Association, was a squad leader and music leader of the saxophone section in the marching band “Ohio’s Pride”, while performing amongst the top musicians in the top performing ensemble, Wind Symphony for two years. Favalon is a part of the National Association for Music Education, and the Ohio Music Education Association. Prior to graduating from the University of Akron, Favalon completed his degree requirements by student teaching with Mr. Andrew Winter at Cloverleaf High and Middle School where he experienced observing and teaching grades 6th – 12th. Now returning as the Middle School Band Director, he will be teaching 6th – 8th grade bands, and assisting in the marching band. Outside of Cloverleaf, Favalon spends time with his wife Michelle who works as a NICU Nurse at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Colorguard/Winterguard Instructor

Ashley Davis

Ashley Davis has been the color guard instructor since 2015. Ashley is a Cloverleaf alumna having graduated in 2014. In 2019 Ashley graduated from the University of Akron with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude and earned a degree in AYA Integrated Language Arts Besides working with our color guard, Ashley is a high school English teacher.

Percussion Instructor

Tyler Byrd

Tyler Byrd has been the Percussion Instructor (battery) since 2017. Tyler is the Bass Tech for the Rogues Hollow Regiment who were this years’ SoundSport Champions. He is a 4-year member of the two-time DCA Champion White Sabers Drum & Bugle Corps, 3-year member of the WGI Open Class Notre Dame Indoor Percussion Ensemble, and a 3-year member of the Cleveland Browns drumline. Tyler also was a member of the University of Akron Drumline for several seasons, and is an alumnus of Norton High School. Tyler has also taught and marched with the Erie Thunderbirds Drum and Bugle Corps for the past four seasons, including a 2nd place finish in DCA Class A in 2016 and 3rd place finish in 2017. He is currently pursuing a degree in AYA Social Studies Education at The University of Akron.

Percussion Instructor

William Brooks

Billy is from Mars, Pennsylvania. After graduating in 2021 from Mars Area High School, he now attends the University of Akron, pursuing a BFA degree in Graphic Design. During high school, Billy participated in the Mars Area Marching Band for 5 years. While attending UA, he has marched with the University of Akron Drumline for 2 years on snare, with a co-section leader position in 2022. Outside of school and college, Billy has been an active member of the Rogues Hollow Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps since 2022, where he also plays snare. In 2023, Billy has also marched snare for Cap City 2, a WGI Independent Open Class group.

Percussion Instructor

Abby Washinger

Abby Washinger is a 2021 graduate of Cloverleaf High School and current Music Education student at The College of Wooster. Abby is entering her third year of teaching percussion and her first year as the Front Ensemble instructor at Cloverleaf High School. Outside of teaching, Abby is a third-year member of the Rogues Hollow Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and plays in The College of Wooster Scot Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wooster Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Wooster Singers, and Percussion Ensemble. Abby is a member of the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association (OCMEA) and National Association for Music Education (NAfME). After graduation, Abby hopes to teach high school band.

Get Involved

Join the Cloverleaf Music Associates to further the interest in music education and promote the Cloverleaf Music program. We also aid in providing funds for music education expenses and equipment. Our group provides assistance to the music teachers as required, thus allowing them to focus on the educational aspects of the music education program
